June 2020
We have missed seeing you and being able to provide dental care. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to you and your safety.
We will be building back to our “new normal” in a phased approach. We will do our best to accommodate you while following new guidelines for patient safety. This will include longer and staggered appointment times to allow for social distancing.
We have always taken the highest level of precautions and safety measures, especially with infection control. Our office strictly follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued due to COVID-19.
During this time, we have added some additional measures to keep the environment as safe as possible. Some of the changes you will see at your next appointment are outlined below.
We truly appreciate your patience and cooperation.
Upon Your Arrival at the Office:
- To assist in social distancing and contact points, we will use a “virtual waiting room.” Please call 401 567-0500 when you have arrived, and remain in your vehicle.
- You will be guided from your car directly to our treatment room when it’s ready for you.
- All Patients/visitors must come into our office wearing a mask. Please keep it on until instructed to remove.
- We will have hand sanitizer available. Please use some when you enter the office.
- We prefer ONLY patients enter into the office. Parents/guardians/caretakers and other family members will be asked to wait outside whenever possible. If necessary ONLY ONE parent/guardian/caretaker will be allowed to accompany a patient. They will also be required to wear a mask, and have their temperatures recorded.
- Sneeze guards or droplet barriers have been installed at the front desk, and all reading material have been removed so they can’t harbor or transfer germs of any kind.
- We ask that you continue to practice social distancing measures in common areas of the office, including the front desk.
- All patients will be screened before appointment starts, including temperature checks. Any patients showing signs of a fever (100.4 or higher) or other symptoms of illness will be asked to reschedule their appointment.
- You may see or hear HEPA air filtration running
During Treatment:
- All rooms will be COMPLETELY sterilized before each patient is seated, and public areas, including restrooms, will be cleaned and sterilized frequently throughout the day.
- Prior to procedures starting, you may be asked to rinse with a hydrogen peroxide mixture. This is to help reduce the levels of microbes like bacteria or virus in your mouth before we start working.
- All treatment rooms have high-volume air suction units. The units are capable of removing particles smaller than COVID-19 viruses.
- We have placed surgically clean air units in each operatory. These are designed to circulate the air several times an hour through a HEPA filter, bringing air quality to standards of hospital operating room.
- To reduce aerosols, rubber dams may be used for certain procedures with the doctor. This non-latex material isolates the teeth we are working on from the rest of the mouth.
- For hygiene appointments, we will be hand scaling teeth and skipping the polish
- Our team will follow guidelines set forth by the CDC, OSHA, and ADA with regard to personal protective equipment (PPE) and office sterilization.
Checking Out After Your Appointment:
- All patients will be escorted out of the office by a team member to reduce congestion at the desk and minors will be reunited with their parents/guardians/caretakers.
- If necessary, you will receive a call from our office to schedule your next appointment and make any necessary payment arrangements - currently are we limiting patients checking out at the front desk.
If you had an appointment between March 17th and June 15th, we will work to reschedule you as soon as possible. Due to distancing guidelines, we may also need to modify the existing scheduled appointments. We understand this is frustrating. Please call us if you have an urgent need we should be alerted to.
Thank you all for your support and patience during our time of closure. We value you as patients and look forward to welcoming you back as our patients, neighbors and friends!
